Mission statement: The AOCS Lipid Library is an open access website, which is intended to be the major online source of information on lipid science and technology. It is freely available to scientists, technologists, students and laymen everywhere.
This website is owned and managed by AOCS (American Oil Chemists' Society). The Joint Editors-in-Chief are - John L. Harwood and Randall J. Weselake.
They can be contacted by email at Harwood@cardiff.ac.uk and randall.weselake@ualberta.ca, respectively.
We will usually grant all reasonable requests for permission for figures in these documents to be used elsewhere for non-profit-making purposes, provided the source is acknowledged, but we retain the copyright. Formal requests should be sent to the author and to one of the joint Editors-in-Chief.
Many thanks for the following -
The basic design of the web pages was adapted from an open source template (Andreas07) by Andreas Viklund.
MicrosoftTM Expression Web is used as the HTML editor to prepare the web pages on this site. Some clipart icons were freeware or adapted from freeware.
The XHTML used to prepare this site has been independently validated by W3C.org.
Most of the chemical formulae were drawn using ChemWindowsTM (Softshell Inc.). All mass spectra, NMR spectra and many other figures were prepared using Metafile CompanionTM (companionsoftware.com).
