J. Thomas Brenna

Professor J. Thomas Brenna B.Sc., Ph.D.

Tom Brenna is Professor of Human Nutrition and of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He was introduced to PUFA nutrition research in 1978 in Robert Jensen’s Lipids Laboratory at the University of Connecticut and earned his PhD with George Morrison at Cornell. His research group focuses on molecular and physiological aspects of fatty acid metabolism, and on development of mass spectrometry for lipid and steroid analysis.

Cynthia Tyburczy

Cynthia Tyburczy B.Sc., Ph.D.

Cynthia Tyburczy earned her B.S. (2006) and M.S. (2008) in Animal Science from Cornell University working with Dale Bauman, and her PhD in Human Nutrition Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University, working in the laboratory of J. Thomas Brenna. Her dissertation research focused on the role of arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acids in neonatal piglet development.
