Svetlana Momchilova, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Svetlana Momchilova obtained her MS in the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1989. She worked as an analyst in governmental analytical laboratories before joining the Laboratory of Lipid Chemistry at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with the Centre of Phytochemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 1993. In 2002 she obtained her PhD on mechanism of isomeric fatty acids separation by silver ion chromatography in the same Institute. In 2002-2004 she joined the laboratory of Prof. Yutaka Itabashi in Hokkaido University – Hakodate with a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellowship. Her scientific interests are concentrated on chromatographic and spectral methods for identification, separation and quantification of lipids, mostly on analysis of isomeric fatty acids and triacylglycerols. Since 2010 she is head of the Laboratory of Lipid Chemistry at Institute of Organic Chemistry with the Centre of Phytochemistry.
