Siew Wai-Lin, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Siew Wai-Lin graduated from University of Malaya with Bachelor of Science, and from the University of Salford, UK with Masters degree. Subsequently her Ph.D (1994) from the University of Malaya is on Composition of diglycerides and their effects on properties of palm oil. She has been with the palm oil industry since 1974, working in the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), and then in the Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia(PORIM) since 1979. PORIM is now known as the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). She has retired from her research group leader post in MPOB, and is now a Senior Research Fellow with MPOB. Her research includes oil quality, interesterifications, refining, fractionation, novel oil compositions and oil modifications. She has received several awards for her works, including the Tan Sri Postgraduate award, the PORIM Gold medal award in 1994 and MPOB Gold medal award in 2010, MICCOS award for innovative scientist in 2009, etc. She is author of several book chapters, patents and publications. She is also much involved in developing standards for oils and fats in Malaysia.
