Gijs Calliauw, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Gijs graduated with Great Honours in Bio-engineer Chemistry at Ghent University, Belgium in 2004, and obtained his Ph.D. on fat crystallization and fractionation at the same institute in 2008. He joined Desmet Ballestra Engineering in 2005, where he worked as an R&D engineer to focus on the development of fractionation technology. In 2007, he was appointed as Process Engineer Fractionation (and later Process Engineer Refining), being more involved in the design and execution of industrial projects. He currently also fulfills the corporate role of Product Manager Modification within Desmet Ballestra Group and is as such also responsible for the innovation in the field of modification technology for the global Group.
