Zakir Hossain, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Zakir Hossain obtained a M.S. in genetics and plant breeding from IPSA (Bangladesh) and a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology from Ehime University (Japan). After graduation he joined the Institute of Plant Biochemistry (Germany) as a postdoctoral fellow with a fellowship from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation where he studied the development of synthetic promoters for jasmonic acid localization. He joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as a Visiting Fellow in 2008 and worked on the identification and functional characterization of novel genes involved in cell wall biosynthesis.
